Sina Technology News Beijing time in the late May 1st news, "Nikkei Asia review" website today quoted a number of people informed that the ARM China joint venture has been put into operation at the end of April and took over the business of ARM in the Chinese market.
The joint venture also plans to go public in China's A shares, the people familiar with the matter said. Reported that the joint venture called "Arm Mini China", headquartered in Shenzhen, Chinese investors accounted for 51% of the shares, while ARM has the remaining 49% stake. The joint venture will take over all business of ARM in the Chinese market, including licensing and royalty business.
ARM is one of the most influential chip technology providers in the world. At present, about 90% of the world's mobile devices are using ARM chip technology. Apple, Samsung, HUAWEI, Qualcomm, Broadcom and MediaTek and other well-known enterprises need to obtain technical authorization from ARM.
Analysts say the establishment of ARM China joint venture is also a breakthrough in China's chip industry. At present, China is developing its own semiconductor industry to reduce its dependence on foreign suppliers. Especially after ZTE was banned, China realized its urgency.
ARM has not released its sales data in China, but analysts estimate that about 25% of its revenue comes from China. Ryan Haas (Rene Haas), the executive vice president of ARM, said that ARM's growth in the Chinese market is faster than any other country and is expected to become the largest ARM market in five years.
It is not clear whether the pricing structure of the joint venture is different from that of the parent company ARM, and how many employees are transferred to the joint venture company.
In addition, the joint venture also plans to carry out IPO (initial public offering) in China. In early April, it was reported that the ARM China joint venture would soon be landing in the A share market in the year.
